Brandy - at what time of nite do you see this star and the angle. Venus and Mercury are only visible before and after sunset because of their close rotation around the sun. My guess is that your mystery planet is either Jupiter or Mars. The maximum visible magnitudes less than or equal to +2.50 are the Moon (−12.9), Venus (−4.6), Jupiter (−2.9), Mars (−2.9), Mercury (−1.9), and Saturn (−0.2).
Hi I was just wondering if you have ever noticed a really "unusually" bright star/planet or whatever? I've been noticing it for a couple of years and it seems to get brighter each year. Some have mentioned it is Venus (I think) but for some reason I don't think its that. From where I live (Alabama) Its in the eastern direction. Have you noticed it and if so could you explain what it is? Thank you
